Day 2- Sun. July 1/18
I packed up the campsite and having breakfast in Pickering. I blogged fri. and Sat. while eating breakfast. It was 9:30am by the time I was done, not good. Again another hot start. There are lots of traffic lights between Pickering to Oshawa. I am having a break in Newcastle and a local overheard me talking about the waterfront trail and he guided me to the trail. When I turned down the road, I could see some hills to climb, I started to second guess myself but it worked alright for I met Doug and his wife Joanne Barlow and the riding party. Doug and Joanne belong to the Oshawa cycling club and every Canada day they celebrate Canada`s birthday by riding Canada`s age...151 kms. They have 30kms to finish. Well done. I had lunch and a swim in Port Hood. I am camping at Cobourg East campground. I tried buying beer and ordering pizza but the pizza place didn`t have a driver and no one wanted to give up their beer. The campground owners was cooking burgers and I was offered one. Life is good.
Today`s ride- 110kms.
Total- 257kms
